De l’apparaître, 2024
L’exposition De l’apparaître, rassemble les œuvres photographiques de sept artistes qui mettent notamment en valeur les notions d’espace et de lumière, afin d’en révéler l’étrangeté de l’expérience du visible. Les œuvres de Pierre Blache, Laurence Hervieux Gosselin, Clara Lacasse, Pamela Markus, Isabelle Parson, Sylvie Readman et Denis Rioux, ont été retenues pour la façon dont elles mettent en valeur cet intérêt pour la lumière et en ce qu’elle est génératrice d’espaces singuliers. Devant ces œuvres, il serait peut-être plus approprié de parler de la nature des espaces, au pluriel, de l’ordre du sensible et de la suspension. De l’ordre d’une inquiétante étrangeté aussi, ou encore d’une présence exacerbée telle qu’elle est révélée par le médium photographique et par lequel l’existence du temps, tout au moins le temps anthropocentrique, est inévitablement remis en question.

The exhibition Of Appearance brings together photographic works by seven artists who highlight the notions of space and light, revealing the strangeness of the visible experience. The works of Pierre Blache, Laurence Hervieux Gosselin, Clara Lacasse, Pamela Markus, Isabelle Parson, Sylvie Readman, and Denis Rioux were selected for their exploration of light and its role in generating unique spaces. When viewing these works, it might be more appropriate to speak of the nature of spaces, in the plural, in terms of the sensory and the suspended. In terms of an uncanny strangeness, too, or an exacerbated presence as revealed by the medium of photography, through which the existence of time, at least anthropocentric time, is inevitably called into question.
